Ursula's Historical Recipes (and some books) Channel Description Snapshot

Channel Description

This channel is dedicated to the recreation of historic recipes, from Ancient Mesopotamian cuisine via Ancient Rome to Medieval and Renaissance cooking, with a few additions from more recent centuries. My aim is to present historic recipes in a manner that they can be reproduced in normal household kitchens with easily available ingredients.
As I am not only an archaeologist, culinary historian and a passionate cook, but also a book author, I will once in a while present some of my historical novels here as well, both in English and in German (more English language content is in production).
If you like, you can follow me on Instagram, too, at @ursulashistoricalrecipes.
- Dr. Ursula Janssen

“My definition of man is a cooking animal. The beasts have memory, judgement, and the faculties and passions of our minds in a certain degree; but no beast is a cook.”
― James Boswell, The Journals, 1762-95
