English with Lindsay

Hi, my name is Lindsay, and I’m here to teach you English! Actually, not just me - my students are here to help you learn English too! I’ve been teaching English to people from all over the world for more than 12 years, and at one point I really stopped to think about the importance of being in a class. Why join a class, and not just take English lessons with a tutor? The very nature of language is social - it can not exist without a community. When you genuinely want to communicate with the people sitting next to you about topics that are interesting to you, this is when you really open the door to learning new vocabulary and improving your fluency. When a student tells a true story from her life while using a new phrasal verb, your brain forms a connection between this interesting story and the new vocabulary word. This helps you remember both the story and the new word weeks later. I hope you enjoy “sitting in”on our classes and learning English as an extended part of our community.
