“Lesbians, gay men and bisexuals living free from discrimination or disadvantage based on their sexual orientation.”
While we have seen many advances in legal protections for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals, this has not yet translated into practice in all aspects of our personal, professional and political lives. The advances and protections we have won in the UK and many other Western countries are not yet replicated in all parts of the world. Even in countries that have seen such advances for LGB people, our rights, culture, and history are now under threat from new ideologies conflating biological sex with the notion of gender identity and replacing ‘sex’ with ‘gender’, thereby erasing same-sex sexual orientation. As lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals we want to be free to openly celebrate who we are.
