Channel Description
The Byzantine Choir of chanters "Saint John Kukuzeles" was founded with the blessing of His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios in 1998. The choir consists of 20-30 chanters educated in the School of Byzantine Music in Tirana.
The purpose of the choir is to perform in a profesional way the prayer services from one side, and also the promotion of Byzantine Music as a traditional continuation of the cultural, artistic and spiritual heritage of Albania on the other side.
Theodhor Peci (born in Korça, June 19, 1984) is a professor of Psaltic Art, the director (since 2012) of the Archdiocesan School of Byzantine Music in Tirana (Albania), and the conductor (since 2011) of the “Saint John Koukouzeles” byzantine choir of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania. He is also a researcher, a Byzantine Music composer, and the main publisher of music books of Psaltic Art in Albanian.
