Seismology and Wave Physics - ETH Zürich Channel Description Snapshot
Channel Description
Welcome to the YouTube channel of the Seismology and Wave Physics group at ETH Zurich. We are part of the Institute of Geophysics at the Department of Earth Sciences (D-ERDW). Our group uses inverse theory, state-of-the-art numerical techniques and modern high-performance computing in order to characterise 3D Earth structure and seismic sources. With this channels we want to give you an insight on what we are currently working on. We hope you enjoy it.
More generally, measuring and modelling mechanical waves enable us to reveal the interior of objects that are otherwise not accessible to direct observations. Our research thus spans several orders of magnitude from thousands of kilometers in planetary seismology down to fractions of a millimeter in medical imaging applications.
