Nasira Habib

Nasira Habib is an educationist, environmentalist, and organic gardener. She is a
graduate of the University of Essex (England) and the Institute of Social Studies (Netherlands). She has
researched, experimented, taught and grown organic food in diverse conditions. She is the author of
Gharailu Baghbani (a manual on organic home gardening) and Invisible Farmers among other
publications. She has also learned and exchanged ideas and experiences with organic gardeners and
farmers of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Germany. She is a member of Smiling
Gardener Academy, USA. She is also a member of several international movements on organic farming.
She specialises in home and school gardening and has experience in organic rice and wheat cultivation.
She is the winner of an FAO award for her services in the field of agricultural extension. She is also a
member of the steering committee of Pesticide Action Network Asia & the Pacific.
