Founded in 1971, the Southern Poverty Law Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that is a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.
Our work is grounded in the communities of our five Deep South states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Our strategies include litigation, policy advocacy, research and documentation, community organizing and public education.
