FLORA KARIMOVA (Flora Kərimova, Flora Kerimova, Флора Керимова) is People Singer of Azerbaijan Republic (1992) and Civil Rights activist. She is a founder of Modern Western style POP Music in Azerbaijan during Soviet Union. She pioneered singing Western kind of Jazz, Pop & Rock as well as traditional music Mugham who played on Ballet Theater as a Leyli of "LEYLI MAJNUN" Opera. She starred in "QANUNNAMINE" film in a role of Zuleykha as a head character. Her voice and songs became a sound track single for myriads of Azerbaijan Soviet Film, Cartoon and Theaters as well as her presence was involved. She later 1989 joined Azerbaijan National Freedom Movement and became of its fighter who defended boldly human rights and democracy struggling against Soviet Union. She played significant role regaining independence. During 20th January bloodshed death-mass by Soviet army in Baku, she stood up still in front of tanks and stopped them entering city second time. She is a HERO!
