The Edwardian Pianist Channel Description Snapshot
Channel Description
Hear the authentic sound of mainstream domestic music of early 20th century Great Britain. Until the advent of the amplifier in 1924 the piano was the main household musical entertainment device. The majority of domestic music was never committed to audio recording as there was no purpose in so doing. As the 20th century advanced audio recorded music became the predominant way music is heard in the household environment. The music of the Victorian and Edwardian eras thus silently faded from the popular vernacular leaving only their printed pages. Today the majority of people cannot read music in any meaningfully fluent way that they may play these scores fluently as originally intended. The purpose of this Channel is primarily to make available to you the music that represents our shared cultural musical heritage. Long live Great Britain!
