College Physics with Greg Francis Channel Description Snapshot

Channel Description

I have taught the College Physics sequence at Montana State University for 31 wonderful years. During that time I have had the pleasure of teaching over 32,000 undergraduates. Much of what I know about teaching physics I learned from Lillian McDermott, Peter Shaffer, and the rest of the Physics Education Group at University of Washington in Seattle. The Physics 205 and 207 courses at MSU grew out of a collaboration with my good friend, Jeff Adams.

The textbook used in the College Physics sequence is "College Physics: Putting It All Together," by Ron Hellings, Jeff Adams, and Greg Francis. It is published by University Science Books. We also use "Tutorials in Introductory Physics," by Lillian McDermott, Peter Shaffer, and the Physics Education Group.

I was awarded the 2021 Millikan Medal by the American Association of Physics Teachers. This award recognizes educators who have made notable and intellectually creative contributions to the teaching of physics. I retired from MSU.
