Shibuya is one of the major cities along the Yamanote Line, and like Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, it is the subcenter of the west side of the city where many commercial areas and companies are located. The station is a terminal station for many train and bus lines, and many lines connecting the city center with southwest Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture pass through the station. Many residents of Kawasaki City, Yokohama City, and the central part of Kanagawa Prefecture gather here, so there is a constant flow of people throughout the day. Tokyu Corporation is playing a central role in a large-scale redevelopment project that will continue until 2027, with the construction of skyscraper complexes in front of the station.
