The right to access to justice, guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India encompasses the right to access live court proceedings. To imbue greater transparency, inclusivity and foster access to justice, the eCommittee, Supreme Court of India has undertaken the project of live streaming of court proceedings on priority. With the objective of implementation of the open court concept, the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench has commenced live streaming of court proceedings on YouTube. The primary object is to enable access to live court proceedings, including matters of public interest to citizens, journalists, civil society, academicians and law students on a real time basis. Also, to the common man it will help give a better understanding of the functioning of the Courts.
