Alejandro Escuer

Alejandro Escuer is a Mexican flutist, composer, professor and multidisciplinary artist. He is a virtuoso improviser, an expert on extended techniques and a very successful contemporary classical musician who has toured all over the world. He has been an inspiration to many composers who have dedicated to him more than 300 pieces for flute and many instrumental combinations including flute and orchestra. He founded www.onixensamble.com and the very first multidisciplinary project for flute, electronics, and video www.luminico.org. He is also a self-thought painter, photographer and designer. Awards: two Rockefeller Foundation-BBVA FONCA, INBA (first prize); Arts Scholarship (UNAM), The National Association for Latino Arts and Cultures award and many others from FONCA. Alejandro is also an active scholar and holds degrees from Conservatorio Nacional de Música (B.A.), UNAM (B.A.), Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam (M.A.),New York University (Ph.D).
