Shezzie is a singer songwriter born and raised in South London. Formerly of the successful vocal trio Brown Sugar, Pauline Catlin now known as Shezzie, along with Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul) and Carol Simms (aka Kofi) during the 70’s and 80’s were the first female Black British Reggae music trio with a succession of hit’s such as iconic songs like ‘I’m in Love with A Dreadlocks‘ & ‘Black Pride’. Brown Sugar are recognised as the pioneers of the popular genre known today as ‘Lovers Rock,’ produced by John Kpiaye and also working with the acclaimed Dennis Bovell.
Shezzie’s contemporary sound showcases a unique musical fusion rooted in Reggae with Jazz & Neo Soul undertones and influences. As a phenomenal singer songwriter, she magically captures a musical vibrancy reflecting the creative collision of her Caribbean and British roots.
