We live on a small farm in Northwest Indiana and raise beef cattle, and chickens. We also grow and harvest hay. We grow a lot of our own food in our large garden. We cook from scratch, and preserve foods through canning, dehydrating, smoking and freezing. We also collect the sap from our Maple trees to make Maple syrup. We have an unheated greenhouse where we start many of our garden plants and overwinter some cold hardy plants. We have laying hens for eggs and replacement hens. We also raise meat birds once a year to fill our freezer. We grow apples, pears, peaches, and cherries in our orchard, and grow strawberries, blueberries and grapes in our garden. Sunflowers adorn the garden in the summer and feed the chickens in the winter. We also grow herbs for cooking and teas. Much of what we produce on our farm feeds our family and friends.
