Guru is a Sanskrit term meaning “mentor, guide, expert, or master” of specific knowledge within a particular field. The title “Guru” is bestowed upon the highest spiritual leaders in Hinduism and Buddhism.
I have taught fermentation for many years, and many students have called me their fermentation “guru,” which is the inspiration behind the name Cultured Guru—a title I hold with great responsibility.
In the true wisdom-sharing pursuit of the Guru, here you will find everything I know about fermentation microbiology, fermented foods, and nourishing microbial ecosystems, all open access, all for free.
To me, microbes are the most ancient, spiritual, and sacred organisms among us. Microorganisms in the soil, sea, and sky are essential for all life. They literally give us life, and one day, our bodies will return to them.
Learning to create fermented foods and nurture the sacred life within us should always be accessible to everyone.
