Dr. Paul Yardy was a medical missionary from the United States of America, who came to Umri in 1951 and started the Umri Christian Hospital. His vision was to provide the best medical care to all the patients irrespective of caste, creed, race, and sex. An English medium school was needed to provide education to the children of the doctors, nurses, paramedic staff, and others working at the hospital. As the hospital existed for the development of the surrounding communities, the management felt the need to educate children from the surrounding villages as well. Hence, the Dr.Yardy English High School was established on 5th July 1998.
