Escape to the chateau de Lapalu! Our home is a real life Downton abbey!
We moved our family to the 12th century Château de Lapalu in 2024. Our story has been featured on Channel 4’s show Help! We Bought a Village!
We arrived to no heating here, dangerous electrics and years of problems to solve. But we love Lapalu! It is a wonderful place with beauty and history and we want to save it.
Château de Lapalu is in the Gers region of south west France. It is surrounded by farmland, hills and a river with magnificent views of the Pyrenees. Once home to the count de Béon, with medieval, Napoleonic and ww2 history the château has become very neglected in recent years.
Will you join us as we try to breathe life back into this amazing place? We will create bed and breakfast rooms for guests and a tea room to raise funds for the on going renovations which are substantial for a historic building!
