Farida Nelson holds a Master degree in Piano Performance from Baku Music Academy in Azerbaijan. She has over 15 years of professional experience as a music teacher, performing artist, recording musician, and a songwriter. Farida Nelson plays piano, guitar, bas guitar, and sings.
In 2002, she took 2nd place in Shubert's Club Piano Competition in St. Paul, MN, USA. She also became a finalist of Azerbaijan National Final for EUROVISION Song Contest in 2008 as a member of rock-band UNFORMAL, and in 2010 as a member of pop-band MILK & KISSES. With the same pop-band, she became a finalist of NEW WAVE Song Contest in 2010, which was held in Yurmala, Latvia.
In 2017, one of Farida’s students, Elisabeth Connors, took the 1st price at “American Protege” international music competition, where she sang “Getmə, Getmə, Gəl” by Seyid Rüstəmov. As a finalist, she performed that song at Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY.
Currently, she's performing with her progressive jazzrock Farida Nelson Trio
