Channel Description

DISCOVER, RELIVE AND CELEBRATE HISTORY AT MUSÉE DE VENOGE
We are an all-volunteer living history museum with the purpose of understanding and interpreting the lives and material culture of the early 19th century French-Swiss inhabitants. During our living history events, summer classes and publications, we pay special attention to early trades, domestic arts, early gardening methods and foodways in Switzerland County, Indiana.

Visit us and tour the restored 1828 French Colonial Venoge cottage.  Thirty acres of the original 41 acre homestead have been preserved. Slated for destruction, the cottage was saved and laboriously restored over a period of sixteen years.

We are open by appointment and hold several public events and classes each year.  We are two miles west of the town of Vevay in Switzerland County, Indiana near the beautiful Ohio River.
