Rubella Ballet are the day-glo pioneers of anarcho-punk — the band who bridged the gap between the Sex Pistols, X-Ray Spex, and Crass. Formed in 1979 by Sid Truelove and Zillah Minx, they stand out from the black-clad punk scene with neon colours, UV lights, and a fierce DIY spirit. Mixing art, politics, and rebellion, Rubella Ballet champion individuality, feminism, and creative freedom. From their debut Ballet Bag to the acclaimed Planet Punk and Danger of Death, they’ve remained defiantly independent, inspiring generations across punk, goth, and alternative culture. Still active and still radiant, Rubella Ballet continue to shine their ultraviolet light of truth against conformity and control.
