Prof Vivek Kumar

Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Kumar, a world ranking Professor of Sociology and Former Chairperson, Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He has been a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, Columbia University, New York, USA in 2012 and a Visiting Faculty at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. Prof. Vivek Kumar has delivered the inaugural Ambedkar Memorial Lectures at the University of British Columbia, Simon Frazer University, and York University, all from Canada (2018). Prof Kumar has done a project with Harward University and UBC, Canada. He also participated in the World Conference against Racism, Durban, South Africa (1999), and the Parliament of World Religions, in Utah, USA. His most famous book is Caste and Democracy in India (2014) and his seminal article is 'How Egalitarian is Indian Sociology (2016 EPW).
