Channel Description

Hosted by Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, this ground-breaking hit variety show was a fast moving barrage of jokes, one-liners, running skits, and musical numbers that made fun of the social and political issues of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Legendary comedy producer George Schlatter assembled a team of talented unknowns who went on to become household names with catch phrases and characters who would embed themselves in American culture for decades to come.

The group of regulars, included Lily Tomlin, Goldie Hawn, Judy Carne, Arte Johnson, Ruth Buzzi, JoAnne Worley, Alan Sues, Chelsea Brown, and Henry Gibson. Celebrities from Johnny Carson and Jack Benny to Sammy Davis Jr. and Jonathan Winters also made regular appearance on the hit show.

One particular noteworthy appearance was when presidential candidate Richard Nixon uttered the famous phrase, "Sock it to me!" It is believed that appearance helped him win the presidency.
