Brandon Loran Maxwell is a commentator, prize winning essayist, film director, speaker, and entrepreneur. His writings and commentary have appeared at The U.S. Supreme Court, The Hill, Salon, Washington Times, Los Angeles Times, Vox, NPR, PBS, KDAY 93.5, Washington Post, Washington Examiner, Yahoo, Film Threat, Oregonian, Blaze, Townhall, Oregonian, and Foundation For Economic Education, among others. In addition, Brandon regularly speaks on a variety of topics, and has spoken at universities across the United States. In 2023, Brandon directed the documentary film “American Homeboy” which appeared on Apple TV. In 2022, he was cited at the U.S. Supreme Court (United States Of America vs. Helaman Hansen). In 2014, his personal essay “Notes From An American Prisoner” was awarded a Writer’s Digest prize. And in 2009, his one-act play “Petal By Petal” about drug and alcohol addiction was performed at The Little Theater. He holds a B.S. in political science and resides on the West Coast.
