Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria but moved to the United States as a teenager. Growing up, Y.D.A has been singing along to Tracy Chapman’s self titled album ‘Tracy Chapman,’ alongside his mother and sister on Sundays when they cleaned the house. Y.D.A started taking music seriously in his sophomore year of college where he found his love for writing songs and creating new sounds. Y.D.A is an Afrobeats artist that is also versatile in other genres such as R&B, dancehall, hip-hop, etc. Before he started his Afrobeats career, he created mashups that would gain a significant amount of views and plays on YouTube and Soundcloud.
