Exploring Positive Media Psychology:
Movies and games are taking up more and more of the average person's day, but we don't know why. In fact, many people are scared that we're over-using media. At best, movies/games are seen as mindless "escapism" entertainment, at worst the cause of “moral panics”.
My goal for Screen Therapy is to use Positive Media Psychology research to provide others comfort & reassurance that your meaningful experiences with games/movies are valid and that, with mindfulness, there are even more benefits to gain from intentional consumption of media. My essays are a third Science Communication, a third Game Analysis, and a third Opinion. I want to add to the conversation that movies and games can be tools we use to recover or grow, psychologically, and that our time with them isn't wasted if they provide us insights or rest we need.
