Channel Description
Ucore Rare Metals Inc. is the owner of the proprietary, patent-pending RapidSX™ separation technology, for the low-cost, commercial-scale separation and purification of Rare Earth Elements (REEs), Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co), Lithium (Li), and other critical/technology metals, via an accelerated form of solvent extraction (SX).
Developed with USD$1.8 million in assistance from the U.S. Department of Defense, RapidSX™ was successfully tested at the pilot scale for the separation of REEs — for both heavy REE (HREE) and light REE (LREE) feedstocks — as a means of producing commercial-grade rare-earth oxides (REOs) with potentially significant technical and economic efficiencies relative to existing separation technologies.
Ucore is currently commercializing the RapidSX™ technology for REE separation at the RapidSX™ Commercialization & Development Facility in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
