Matt Williams is an up and coming, chart climbing, country music sensation. Born and raised in Southern Alabama, he now calls West Michigan home. Matt served 8.5 years in the United States Army and completed three tours of duty to Iraq and Afghanistan. After being wounded in combat in 2010, Matt discharged from the Army in 2012 to pursue his dream of music. Matt has shared the stage with well-known artists such as Reba McEntire, Buckcherry and Six String Soldiers from the US Army. Matt has performed nationwide at venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, House of Blues in Orlando, FL, Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville, TN and sang for a sold-out crowd of 39,000 Boston Red Sox fans at Fenway Park. Matt was able to perform for President Bush at his annual private gala in Dallas, Texas in 2015. Matt placed 6th overall in a nationwide country music competition put on by Nash Next Country. In 2017, PBS/GVSU collaborated with Matt due to his writing capabilities and Matt donated a song for veterans.
