Channel Description

Hudaki Village Band
Nine Ukrainian village musicians authentically and powerfully transport their audience to a wedding celebration in the Carpathian Mountains. Their music has never been written down and comes from the close and peaceful neighborhood of Ukrainians, Jews, Roma, Hungarians and Romanians. It's about love, betrayal, friendship and death at a young age.

In the local dialect, a village musician is called “Hudak”, the guy (sometimes a lady) who has learned the art from his ancestors and plays and sings the songs that people want to hear at weddings and other family celebrations. They’ll be singing and dancing together for the whole night, or even longer.

The musicians about themselves
For us in Ukraine, traditional music is more important today than ever before. And we go out and say loudly to the whole world: we are part of a free and culturally rich country, and we want to stay that way, no matter what the cost. Support us in this, let's stand up to inhumanity together.
