YYCC was first started in 2016 by Ben Gates, while he was an employee at YoYoTricks.com. Most of the videos on this channel have been filmed and edited by him, except where otherwise noted in the video description. Since his departure from YoTricks in 2018, the channel has been independently operated by Ben. In 2024, the National Yo-Yo League decided to partner with YoYo Contest Central.
