Shaconage Homestead Channel Description Snapshot

Channel Description

We used to be full-time RVers and work-campers, crisscrossing the country in our rig—exploring national parks, chasing adventures, and picking up short-term gigs along the way.

Then came COVID, which forced us off the road, right around the time Jerry needed his fourth knee surgery. Recovery meant staying put for a while.

That's when we discovered the Heroes to Hives program (through the VA and run by Michigan State University Ext.) What started as a way to keep Jerry busy during recuperation turned into a passion: he fell in love with the bees, and I fell in love with the honey!

From there, our nomadic life evolved into something rooted and rewarding. Today, we're building our homestead apiary, tending hives, harvesting fresh honey, growing food, and sharing the joys (and lessons) of beekeeping, self-sufficiency, and simple living.

Join us as we document this new chapter—hive inspections, homestead projects, seasonal harvests, and a slower life.

Thanks for being here!
