The History Junkie

As a Kannadiga, who is born in Bangalore, little do I know about my own land. Who were my ancestors who lived on this land? Who were the rulers who ruled this land and what were their stories?
The answer to this question stems from the lack of pride in my region or its people. History should teach us the heroic stories of our ancestors and our rulers from whom we imbibe a part of them in us, so that we walk on this land, with the cognizance of our history.
Unfortunately, History is written by the British who glorified their existence in India. British very smartly understood that a tiny group of people cannot manage a country of crores of people physically, however they can be conquered mentally. British employed Indians who through the education system made us believe that our culture was not as great as theirs,
It is under this premise, that I am all the more determined to go in search of my roots to fill the vacuum that lies in my heart about my own cultural identity.
