I am a Sunnī Muslim who belongs to the orthodox, mainstream version of Islām.
That is in other words I belong to the ‘Ahlus-Sunnāh Wal-Jamā’ah’. According to us, the term ‘Ahlus-Sunnāh’ refers to anyone who follows
-in ‘Aqīdā one amongst the 3 Mazhabs (i.e Ash’arī, Māturidī, Atharī)
-in Fiqh one amongst the 4 Mazhabs (i.e Hanafī, Shāfī’ī, Hanbalī, Mālikī) or the other Mazhaibs which are not followed now.
(As for Tasawwuf, its optional.)
-in Aqīdā, We follow the Ash’arī Mazhab.
-in Fiqh, We follow the Shāf’ī Mazhab.
