Surfview Gardens Channel Description Snapshot

Channel Description

The Surfview Gardens project grows medicinal and edible plants in Phoenix, Arizona USA, hardiness zone 9b, located in the Sonoran Desert. Favorite ongoing plants here include but aren't limited to (the newest) Adriatic JH figs, Moringa Oleifera (PKM1 variety), Mucuna Pruriens (He Shou Wu), I'Itois (Tohono O'odham) Indian onions, Goji Berries (Phoenix Tear variety), Aloe Vera, Prickly Pear, Acerola/Barbados Cherries, Passion Fruit, San Pedro cactus, as well as vegetables like broccoli, peppers, onions, etc. With an emphasis on experimentation, look for novel approaches to permaculture topics. (For example, raising Red Wiggler worms in the shade without bins - and having them survive the Phoenix summers! Or, creating raised beds using berms instead of wood, metal or plastic borders.)
