Welcome to College Hill Farm. I am Joel and My wife name is Crystal. We homestead on 9 acres in central Kentucky and have renovated our 100+ year old farmhouse. I am a retired physics professor and she is a retired ICU nurse. We decided to slow down from the rat race and live our own Appalachian Lifestyle like our grandparents and great grandparents before us.
We can, freeze, garden, and grow most of our own food. Always moving just a little closer to that mystical sustainability that everyone raves about but no one obtains. My dad was a coal miner and his dad before him. My great grandmother was a granny doctor in the mountains and practiced and used all types of herbal medicine. They all lived this homestead Appalachian Lifestyle.
I have a major disability but don't let that stop me. We are having the time of our life. I have modified so many tools to make the work on our homestead just a little easier. I will show you how to do the same. Modern Homesteading made simple.
