Channel Description

Kabul Dreams are trailblazers of Afghan rock, formed in Kabul in 2008 and hailed as the country’s first rock band. Led by guitarist and vocalist Sulyman Qardash with Siddique Ahmed on bass and Raby Adib on drums, they built an electrifying sound and a global following. Their debut Plastic Words (2013), mixed by Grammy winner Alan Sanderson, put them on the map, followed by their U.S. debut at SXSW after relocating to San Francisco in 2014. The follow up Megalomaniacs (2017) drew from the political climate and vivid experiences of life in Kabul, while the 2019 EP With Love from Kabul Dreams revealed a brighter side with songs in Dari. They were featured in the award winning film Radio Dreams, which included a collaboration with Lars Ulrich of Metallica. Ulrich praised them in interviews as one of his great discoveries outside the western artists.
