Anna Spicer- Girl WithOut Guts

Hey guys, my name is Anna! I have both Crohn's Disease and Gastroparesis. Both of these are gastrointestinal diseases (IBD). I have been misdiagnosed many years for my Crohn's Disease, but once I was diagnosed I was able to seek proper treatment, that resulted in the loss of my colon. A nurse, just shy 20 years before medical resignation, I had never heard of either diseases. I am learning ER physicians do not know about Gastroparesis either. Gastroparesis is the paralysis of the stomach, and mimics a small bowel obstruction (for me because I have a ileostomy). I am trying to spread awareness about both of the diseases through my own experiences, and I hope many can learn, relate and/or feel comfortable enough to ask me questions. We are brave warriors, CD and GP.
