The Montessori Initiative

The Montessori Initiative is the umbrella organisation that developed the Randburg Montessori Learning Community. This was a beautiful Montessori school that operated from 2002 to 2020 and followed the classic Montessori approach for a community of the most wonderful children who loved to learn. Unfortunately the forced lockdowns during COVID-19 required us to attempt to offer online learning for children who really should have been engaging with the Montessori materials in order to construct themselves. Therefore, we carefully selected activities and lessons that could easily be experienced in most homes. Telling and reading stories was such an integral part of our day that we were compelled to record some of the children's favourite books. Sharing ideas and learning from each other always will be part of our day. Since the school closed in December 2020 we have been working on some new ideas of how to practically support children, parents, and teachers.
