When I was a first year university student I found it difficult to understand some of the modules, only if I had support or someone patient to explain the concepts that were foreign to me. Lecturers were not interested in us as individual students because most of the 1st year modules we used to attend them in an Auditorium and they classes were huge...
Maths and Statistics are labelled as difficult subjects however I think if you provide someone with basic skills and unpack the difficult question then they will realize that maths is doable....
