The organisation is known as Shia Ithna'ashari Community of Middlesex (SICM) and its centre in North Harrow is known as Mahfil Ali. SICM also has a registered charity operating under the name of Battlers Well Foundation (BWF).
The Shia Ithna'ashari Community of Middlesex (Mahfil Ali) was established 30 years ago by a group of young professionals seeking to establish a space for communal worship, intellectual discourse, and social engagement. From the outset, our open environment fostered innovative and pioneering ideas to meet the ever changing needs of the community. Providing a free platform for speakers, the participation of all the community across age and gender, establishing the first Sunday Madrasah (religious school) and open engagement with our neighbours are just a few examples that have subsequently been adopted elsewhere.
