Channel Description

In 2019 I retired after 38 years as an Electronics Tech at Sandia National Laboratories where I did analog and digital design, simulation, layout, coding, data acquisition and control, robotics, sensors, communications, electromechanical design, and system integration. I always worked closely with mechanical designers and machinists, and had access to a machine shop. It was a great job.

When a colleague rushed into the lab to tell us that the Challenger had exploded I blurted out "O-ring seal failure!" I was working with Laurel Clark's brother when the Columbia burned on reentry. I've stood at Ground Zero at the Nevada Test Site, and I've touched a real "Fat Man". A couple of things that I built are in the Smithsonian's collection. I even made it into the Guinness Book one year for "World's Highest-Hopping Robot."

Before I discovered computers and electronics I aspired to be a professional musician or singer, but these days I just do it for fun in a local Bluegrass band.
