Sailing Options Channel Description Snapshot
Channel Description
Hello and welcome to our sailing channel. We sail different seas, explore great cities, document what it's like owning a boat and learn from experiences and mistakes. Sheenagh was a midwife and Jonathan an engineer, both leading busy lives caring for children, family, friends, colleagues and businesses. A health scare and reality check changed focus from work to adventure. We just normal, doesn't everyone seek escape now and then?
We bought our first boat in 2019, renovated it, then sailed to the Mediterranean sea from Dunkerque through the inland waterways of France "The Long Way DOWN". Leaving the rivers and canals, we enter the Med and "turn left" to see what we can find : Sailing Options "The Long Way EAST".
Options is a great name for our boat, a Southerly 115 - Series Two, first launched in 1994. The swing keel allows sailing close to the wind keel down, running the wind faster half way up and float in 1m depth of water with keel fully retracted.
