Welcome to Derrick Mckenzie's official channel.
Derrick became a professional drummer in the 1980s for Pure n Simple, Tranzeyance, Candyland and Urban Species. In 1994 he joined the band Jamiroquai during their second album 'Return of the Space Cowboy' and the rest is history!
Since joining Jamiroquai, he has written & played on 8 albums and completed 6 sold-out world tours. An awarding-winning drummer & songwriter, awards include an Ivor Novello award, a Grammy and numerous accolades from MTV, BMI, MOBO and the Billboard Music Awards.
Derrick is also becoming a well-established DJ. His main style is Soulful House, Jackin House, Tech House, Deep Soulful House, Funk, Soul, Disco, DiscoFunk, Nu Disco, Old Skool, RnB, also 80's & 90's Soul.
He has worked with Deedylicious, iCulture and some great DJ producers: Roger Sanchez, Steve Mac, Richard Earnshaw, Miguel Migs. He has DJed in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, The Netherlands, USA, Armenia and Australia.
