Channel Description
I am Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland, where I have worked since 1999. I teach international relations, peace studies and political theory. I am originally from Switzerland but over the past three decades I have lived in France, Korea, Canada, the US, Germany and Australia.
My research explores the politics of aesthetics, visuality and emotions, which I examine across a range of issues, from conflict and resistance to ethics, humanitarianism and security politics in Korea.
For the past dozen years I have coordinated a Visual Politics Research Program that runs regular events and brings together researchers from fields as diverse as politics, art history, psychology, communication, philosophy and computer science.
I post videos here about my research and about the Visual Politics Program. I also offer occasional insights into writing and teaching practices.
