Mohini Performing Arts

Mohini Performing Arts (Mohini Dance School) was founded by Smitha Krishnan in 2013 to promote Mohiniyattam, the rich Indian Classical Dance form of Kerala, India, in the United States. Mohini Dance School also evolved into a Theater Production Company creating original Indian Classical Dance Ballets. Their first production, Ghanashyam, premiered in Kirkland, WA in 2018, was invited in 2019 to perform at Soorya Festival, one of the largest festivals for Indian Performing Arts. Second production, "Nirvana - Re-Visioning the Mythical Medusa" was an exploratory journey to present Greek Mythology through Indian Classical Dance. Nirvana was invited to perform at the 52nd Northwest Folklife Festival in May 2023. 'Woman with No Wings', the school's most ambitious production till date was premiered at Cornish Playhouse in September 2024. Snippets from this production were performed at various prestigious events such a Eastside NAMI fundraising gala and 5th Ave Theater's Global Majority Night.
