Tom Lonsdale admits that he was slow to recognise the devastating effects of industrial diets on the dogs, cats and ferrets under his care. Conscience stricken, that realisation was a turning point. In 1991 he blew the whistle on the alliance between pet-food companies, the vet profession and animal welfare organisations.
Lonsdale has been a frequent media commentator in print, radio and TV in Australia, New Zealand, China, USA and Germany.
The University of Sydney, Centre for Veterinary Education (CVE) commissioned him to write the seminal works on Preventative Dentistry (1993) and Raw Meaty Bones Essentials (2018). His books Raw Meaty Bones and Work Wonders receive rave reviews on Amazon. Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud: Hiding in Plain Sight due out April 2023.
His paper proposing a new paradigm of health and disease, Cybernetic Hypothesis of Periodontal Disease in Mammalian Carnivores, enjoyed pride of place in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry (1994).
