Social media is full of half-true, often misleading psychobabble. Serious mental health professionals — those of us with doctorates, active practices, published research, and lots of teaching experience — mostly avoid the whole scene. Not me.
I’m a serious-but-lighthearted psychiatrist with a private practice in San Francisco. I mainly offer psychodynamic psychotherapy, which I cleverly disguise by making it non-stuffy and non-mysterious. It's an under-appreciated alternative to CBT, with unique benefits. I also prescribe psych meds when needed, write and speak about my field, and have taught psychiatry residents (doctors specializing in psychiatry) for decades.
